Pre-Planning Counselor

Michelle answered a blind advertisement one day in her local paper. The ad read, 'If you enjoy people and want to help others, please stop by and apply.' Michelle did just that, but when she drove up to the funeral home, she was shocked. The ad did not give an indication that the work was in the funeral industry. Gathering up her courage, she walked through the doors of the funeral home and realized that working with families through the funeral process was work she could embrace.
She and her family moved back home to Freeport from Wisconsin in 1998 and soon after found her business niche at Walker. Michelle received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Therapy from Illinois State University. She is the immediate Past President of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the American Business Women’s Association Lamplighter Chapter, and was chosen as 2004 Women of the Year. She also has served as Chair of the VOICES Women of Excellence banquet since 2002. During the Christmas season she has the opportunity to use her musical background, participating with her three children in the local Winneshiek theatre production of Christmas Memories.
When ever possible she travels to warmer climates like Mexico and the Bahamas, to brush up on her scuba diving skills, and relax in the sun.
