Evelyn Luella Samuelson, 91, of Freeport, died Sunday, March 16, 2008, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born December 8, 1916 in Rock Grove Township she was the daughter of Albert and Elta (Bennehoff) Hemphill. She married Oscar K. Samuelson December 2, 1939 in Dubuque, Iowa and he preceded her in death on May 30, 1996.
Evelyn worked at Micro Switch for 30 years retiring in 1981.
She attended Cedarville Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church.
Famous for her pies she enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Surviving are her daughters, Sharon (James) Barmore of Cedarville, Marsha (Dr. Wendell) Cox of Freeport, and Joyce (Roy) Voegeli of Monroe; her son, William (Ann) Samuelson of Freeport; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; her sisters, Margaret Eder of Freeport, Lois Stratton of Lorton, Virginia, Shirla Kelly of Monroe, Wisconsin, Analou Kuster of Genoa, Wisconsin, Marie DeRemer of Monroe, Wisconsin; 1 brother, Beryl (Beverly) Hemphill of Rockford.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 1 grandson, Todd Samuelson; 1 sister, Roselyn Moen; 2 brothers, Stanley and Lawrence Hemphill; and her daughter in-law, Diane Samuelson.
Funeral service will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at Cedarville Emmanuel Evangelical Congregational Church with Reverend Jack Ward officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.
A memorial has been established in her name.
