Judith L. Spratler, 73, of Freeport, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born September 12, 1938 in Freeport she was the daughter of Orley and Lucille (Hybarger) Shade. She married Leonard C. Spratler April 26, 1969.
Prior to her marriage she worked at Micro Switch and in later years she baby sat for two special families.
She was a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where in her youth she was a cheer leading coach and chaperoned the boys’ basketball team on their tournaments.
Surviving is her husband, Leonard of Freeport; her daughter, Jody (Jess) Schumacher of Lena; 1 grandson, Jacob Schumacher of Lena; 1 brother, Eugene Shade of Freeport; her sister in-law, Joyce Shade of Freeport; many nieces and nephews; and her special girls, Lindsay Sanders of Zeeland, Michigan and Amber Slattery of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Walker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers memorials have been established for Immanuel Lutheran Church and Freeport High School Music Department.
