Opal Jeanette Schreiner, 85, of Freeport died Monday February 6, 2012 at her home.
Born March 1, 1926 in rural Mt. Carroll she was the daughter of John and Emma (Derrer) Toepfer.
She was a graduate of Mt. Carroll High School. On May 11, 1947 she and Val L. Schreiner were united in marriage.
For 33yrs. she was a secretary for Orangeville Grade School. Opal’s memberships include the Orangeville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women and Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband Val of Freeport; daughter Lynn Schreiner of Elgin; 2 sons Greg (Chuck Griffis) Schreiner of L.A., CA, Lee R. (Charmaine) Schreiner of Rockford; 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be Wednesday February 8, 2012 from 4pm -7pm at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Thursday February 9,2012 at the Orangeville United Methodist Church in Orangeville. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name for FHN Hospice and Orangeville United Methodist Church.
