Donald E. Sturtevant

Donald Eugene Sturtevant, 83, of Freeport died Monday September 6, 2010 at Parkview Home Freeport. Born February 1, 1927 in Freeport he was the son of Alvin and Katherine (Kuntz) Sturtevant. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps. On August 16, 1952 he and Joyce Fickert were united in marriage at First Methodist Church of Freeport. He worked for Union Dairy, Wurtzel Heating, Loescher’s Heating and Cooling and then owned and operated Sturtevant Heating and Cooling until his retirement. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church involved in many of the church groups.
Surviving are his wife Joyce; son Dan (Michelle) Sturtevant; daughter Pat (Dave) Krusey; two grandchildren Matthew and Jenna Krusey; one sister Joyce Pospischil, all of Freeport, and several nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother LaVerne and sister Frances Hawes.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be Friday 4pm until 7pm and Saturday 10 am until the time of service at First United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Katherine Thomas Paisley officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum in Freeport.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for First United Methodist Church.
