Freeport: Aaron L. Lantz, 85 of Freeport, died Sunday January 8, 2006 at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born December 26, 1920 in Mt. Carroll, IL he was the son of Everett E. and Hattie (Beck) Lantz. On November 17, 1951 he married Phoebe Cary in Freeport. She preceded him in death in May of 1974. Aaron was a Cement contractor for five years and then worked as a truck driver for the Army Depot in Savanna for 25 years retiring in 1974. After his retirement he then worked for Contel for three years. He was a Veteran of WWII, a member of Freeport V.F.W., American Legion, and the Freeport Eagles Club and attended Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Surviving is his Step daughter, Patricia A. Elliott of Green Valley, AZ. One niece, Judith Armstrong, of Thompson, IL, one nephew, Jerry Lantz of Chadwick, IL, two grandsons, Robert (Sarah) Elliott Jr. of Sahuarita, AZ and Alan (Mary Ann) Elliott of Tucson, AZ, two great granddaughters, Morgan and Mackenna Elliott both of Sahuarita, AZ and eight great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister and three brothers. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Peace in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. With the Reverend Mark Luepke of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service at the Chapel of Peace. Burial with military honors will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A memorial has been established in his name.
