Alan E. Otte, 66, of Freeport, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2009, on arrival at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born May 19, 1943 in Lena he was the son of Elmer and Florence (Otte) Otte. He married Karen K. Kerchner June 16, 1961 in Lena.
Alan was co-owner of Downing & Otte Service Center in Freeport for several years. He also operated his own snow plow business for many years. He recently retired from Larson Automotive.
His memberships included the local Loyal Order of the Moose and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Surviving is his wife, Karen of Freeport; 3 daughters, Pam (Scott) Springer and Lori (Brian) Dornink both of Freeport and Terri (Dave) Finch of Davenport, Iowa; 1 sister, Arlene (Melvin) Loewe of Lena; 2 brothers, Duane (Judy) Otte of Lena, and Dennis (Mary Ann) Otte of Monticello, Wisconsin; 6 grandchildren, Kirby (fiancé Jamie Mazurek) and Kacie Dornink, Briana, Mackenzie, Jordan, and Kylie Finch; one great grandchild, Colton Voss
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
Funeral service will be Monday 3 p.m. at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Randal Nicholas of Lena Salem Church officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 12 noon until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
