Albert Barker, age 92 of Davis, IL, passed away at home on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. He was born June 3, 1930 in Ferryville, WI; the son of the late Calvin and Mabel (Jackson) Barker. He attended Ferryville schools. Albert married Lucille Calhoun on July 31, 1969.

He farmed and worked on the railroad in his younger years. Later he worked for R.E. Cox Construction in Lena, IL and went on to own his own company, Al Barker Digging Service. He loved digging in the dirt and traveling. Al and Lucille were snowbirds, spending 6 months of the year in Arizona where he enjoyed various outdoor activities. He especially loved the mountains, going for motorcycle and ATV rides with their group of friends.

Al's family would like to thank FHN hospice and staff as well as his caregivers, Heidi, Chris, Heather, Trish, and Nancy for all of their wonderful care and support.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Lucille Barker of Davis; 5 step-children, Jim Lemanski of Freeport, Nancy (George Lazarus) Jackson of Platteville, WI, Brad (Jill Jacobs) Lemanski of Rock City, IL, Bob Barker of Freeport, and Arnie Barker of Forreston, IL; 4 grandchildren, Larry Barker, Suzanne (Shawn) McGlynn, Alicia (Jake) Young, and Phillip (Emily) Jackson; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, LeRoy Barker; brothers, Byron, Harold, and Gary; and sister, Shirley Bolstadt.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport, IL with a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
