Rock City – Albert A. Baum Jr., 53 of Rock City passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, May 8 th with his family at his side. He was born to the late Albert A. and Karen (Scheffers) Baum Sr. on June 13, 1968 in Germany where his father was stationed in the service at the time. After graduating High School and attending college for a short period. At age 23, he embarked on many years of Truck driving that took him 4+ million miles across America's highways.
He and Joni Niesman were married on September 2, 1998 in Las Vegas, NV and together they built a life. He was a godly man who was a good and faithful servant. He loved to go on cruises with Joni, and cook ribs and brisket for his friends on many occasions. He was dubbed the Grill Master. He had an infectious smile and everyone who met him became a friend. He was also an avid Notre Dame fan for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Joni and his step-son, Dan Koester both of Rock City. His brother, Ken (Denise) Baum of Rockford. His mother-in-law, Jaculyn Niesman of Rock City. His sisters-in-laws, Trudy Lichty of Pecatonica, Pam (Philip) Femrite of Beloit, WI, Connie (Roger) Barr of Morrison and Vicki (Mark) Chamberlin of Waterford, WI.
Nieces and Nephews include, Bob (Libby) Barr, Ryan Hille, Denelle (Bennie Jr.) Gordon, Jacob (Kate) Denekas, James Denekas, Nick Haas, Holly (Pershaun) Davis, Wesley Steinke, Michael (Tabitha) Baum, Caden Baum, Aliceya (David) Tartaglia and Jon (Ashley) Jerome.
Great Nieces and nephews include, Keegan, Maverick, Vaughn and Corbin Barr. Bennie III, Jayden and Baxton Gordon. Weston Steinke, Hazel Davis and Leo Jerome.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two uncles, Richard Scheffers and Richard Baum as well as his niece, Amy Barr A memorial has been established in his name.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21 beginning at 9am -11am at Faith Community Church in Davis. A memorial service will follow immediately after the visitation at 11am. There will be a luncheon at the church following the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family interment will take place at Dakota Cemetery.
