Albert W. Grulke, 88, of Freeport, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Manor Court in Freeport.
Born October 20, 1926 in Beloit, Wisconsin he was the son of Albert and Ethel (Mulligan) Grulke. He married Dorothy M. Mickelson January 27, 1949. Albert was a printer for the Rockford Register Star Newspaper for 36 years. He was a decorated WWII Navy Veteran. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed fishing and golfing. Christmas was his favorite time of the year and spending time with his family was his favorite pastime.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy of Freeport; his children, Michael (Sherrie) Grulke of Freeport, Mark (Shellie) Grulke of Rockton, and Matthew (Lin) Grulke of Venice, Florida; his brother Don (Pat) Grulke of Tucker, Georgia; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Cremation rites have been accorded. Per Albert's wish there will be no funeral service.
