Alberta Mae Buss, 81, of Freeport, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Born March 23, 1928 in Freeport she was the daughter of Leander and Hulda (Schlueter) DeGan. She married Kenneth D.Buss October 26, 1947.
Alberta worked at General Casualty Insurance Company for 42 years retiring in 1989 as the Human Resource Director.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and Freeport Eagles Auxiliary.
Surviving is her husband, Kenneth of Freeport; 2 daughters, Pamela (Ernest) Benecke of The Villages, Florida and Sandra (Kenneth) Foltz of Lena; 5 grandchildren, Dana (Brian) Keim of Lanark, Phil (Shelina) Foltz of Cedarville, Tiffany (Kyle) DeSpain of Savoy, Matthew (Lesley) Benecke of Freeport, and Shanna Benecke of Bloomington; 6 great grandchildren, Kara Place, Chad and Brinkley Foltz, Jalen and Harper Keim, and Nolan Benecke.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert DeGan
There will be a visitation Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. Funeral service will be Saturday 1:30 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Dr. Donnley Dutcher officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorials have been established for F.A.C.C. and St. John United Church.
