Alberta R. Levenick, 66, of Freeport, was called home to her lord to end her suffering on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born April 30, 1943 in Rockford she was the daughter of Edwin and Verda (Turner) Gray. She married Kenneth Levenick September 30th, 1967 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockford..
Alberta was instrumental in starting Serendipity Candy in 1997. She also worked at Leath Furniture, T.M. Peters Firestone, Times Screw, and Rock River Distributors all in Rockford and Book World in Freeport.
Alberta taught knitting through the YWCA.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Surviving is her husband, Kenneth of Freeport; son, John (Misty) Levenick of Freeport; daughters, Susan (Terry) Heilman of Freeport and Rachel (Keith) Cary of Freeport; 1 brother, Roger (Karen) Gray of Belleville; 5 grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Heilman, Brandon, Ardan, and Evan Levenick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Elgin and Vernon Gray; and 1 grandchild, Sean Heilman.
Funeral service will be at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of service at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
A memorial has been established for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
