Peoria, IL: Alfred W. Grupe, 87 of Peoria formerly of Freeport died Monday March 26, 2007 at the Proctor Hospital in Peoria Illinois. Born June 2, 1919 in Chicago, IL he was the son of Alfred H. and Willamena (Dammann) Grupe. He worked a Caterpillar in Peoria for many years. He was a member of Union #974 and past commander of the Peoria Boat Club. Surviving are three nephews, John Tobolt of Warhead, MN and Don Borchering of Lebanon, TN and Richard Sargent of Miami, FL; Four nieces, Judy Hawton of New Brighton, MN, Jean Hawton of Redwood Falls, MN, Julie Lehman of Dallas, TX and Joy Sargent of Jacksonville, FL. Eight great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Eleanor Badura and Phyllis Sargent and one half sister, Mildred Tobolt. Funeral service and burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Peace in Oakland Cemetery and Mausoleum in Freeport, IL with a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the Chapel of Peace. A memorial has been established in his name.
