Freeport: Alice C. Halzel, 84, of Freeport, died Wednesday January 11, 2006, at FHN Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 28, 1921, in Shannon to John and Mary (Parker) McAuliffe Jr. On June 15, 1946 she married George J. Halzel in Freeport. He died February 23, 2001.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She worked at Micro Switch Company for ten years. Thereafter, she became a homemaker and was known for her delicious cookies and pies.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda (Mel) Dotson of Lena and Marilyn (Steven) Picking of Freeport, one brother, Francis (Joyce) McAuliffe of Freeport; two grandchildren Jonmark (LeeAnn) Dotson of Winslow and Melinda (Brad) Lasater of Elgin, three great grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, and Makayla Dotson of Winslow.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brother, Leo McAuliffe; and her sister, Dorothy Plowman.
Funeral service will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday 9 a.m. until time of service at church.
A memorial has been established in her name for St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
