Allen H. Baysinger, age 92 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Pearl Pavilion in Freeport, IL. He was born September 27, 1929 in Freeport; the son of the Late Clarence and Esther (Kohl) Baysinger. Allen married Evelyn (Koester) on September 27, 1975; she passed on February 5, 2021.
He served four years in the United States Army during the Korean War. Allen worked for Micro Switch and Kelly/Titan Tire. After he retired, he worked as a crossing guard for Carl Sandburg School.
Allen formerly attended the First Church of the Nazarene and was a member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, both of Freeport. Along with his wife, Evelyn, Allen was a member of the Antique Engine Club. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans. He enjoyed cat fishing, reading the newspaper, his morning daily devotion and spoiling his Dog, Coffee. Together, Allen and Evelyn enjoyed Camping at the fairgrounds. The highlight of his day was going to see Evelyn at Pearl Pavilion. He will be remembered as a soft-spoken and very caring person.
Allen is survived by his daughters, Deb Carson of Mondovi, WI and Donna Eisen of Onalaska, WI; grandchildren, David Mathews, Jeremy (Tonya) Mathews, Blaine Guentner, Meghan (John) Sandberg, Paige Carson, Richard Eisen, Tracy (Tim) Korish, Jr. and Miranda (James) Nagel; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Cynthia (Chris) Riley, Dr. Alan (Dr. Deb) Koester, Jani (Denise) Koester-Jess, John (Cathy) Koester, Sue Koester, Dionne Koester-Fernandez, Kirstin (Kris) Kiracofe, Danny Koester and Brother-in-law, Dale Koester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; sons, Allen Jr. and Joshua; and his former wife, Christina Hammond Saxby; 3 brothers, Clarence, Ernest and Vernon Koester and 1 sister Betty Mathews; Brothers-in-laws, Richard "Dick" Koester and Sheldon Koester; sister-in-laws, JoAnn Koester and Kathleen Koester.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL with a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Antique Engine Club.
