Freeport- Allen J. Biesemeier, 82, of Freeport, died Saturday, March 20. 2004 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born November 28, 1921 in Lena, Illinois he was the son of Emil and Elizabeth (Kurth) Biesemeier. On September 2, 1945, he married Claire Atherton in Lena, IL.
Following his graduation from Lena High School in 1939, he engaged in farming with his mother. In 1956, he purchased the family farm and continued farming for a total of 28 years. In 1964, he was employed by Kelly-Springfield Tire Company retiring in 1991.
Allen enjoyed his family, playing the piano, playing bells in the church hand bell choir, golfing, playing card games, gardening and traveling. He collected coins, Depression glass, and Duesenberg model cars. He enjoyed reading, especially about the history of the United States.
His memberships included, St. John United Church of Christ, Golden "K" Kiwanis, Elks Club, Stephenson County Farm Bureau, and Funds For the Future Investment Club. He was a past member of Salem United Church of Christ and the Lena Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Claire of Freeport; a son, John (Deborah) Biesemeier of W. LaFeyete, In; a daughter, Clarice Jann (Jim) Crabill of Huntley, Il; 6 grandsons; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Phyllis.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Ward Malloy officiating. Visitation will be held Monday March 22, 2004 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, Freeport, IL
Burial will be a Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. John United Church or to the Ferguson Cancer Center.
