Obituary

Alma L. Gassman, 84, of Freeport, died Saturday, November 17, 2007, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born December 24, 1922 in Avon, South Dakota she was the daughter of Henry and Martha (Oorlog) Johnson. She married Charles Gassman May 28, 1955 and he died in 1983.
She was a Group Leader at Micro Switch for 29 years retiring in 1981.
Alma was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and their Tau Alpha Circle. She had volunteered over 8000 hours at FHN Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed collecting Angels and dancing.
Surviving are her sisters, Viola Burma of Freeport, Mabel Kielman of Wildwood, Florida, and Mardel Hille of Freeport; one sister in-law, Mary Johnson of Shannon; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers; and 6 sisters.
Funeral service will be Tuesday 1 p.m. at Walker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 5 to 7 p.m. at Walker Mortuary
Memorials have been established for St. John United Church of Christ and FHN Memorial Hospital Hospice.
