Alma E. Heilemeier, 91 of Rock Grove passed away with her family at her side at Medina Nursing Home in Durand, IL on September 15, 2021.

She was born to the late Ferd and Mary (Vansickle) McMillian on December 16, 1929 in Greensburg, IN.  She married Henry Heilemeier on June 1, 1953 and he passed away on May 22, 2013.  Together they raised a large family in Rock Grove.  She worked at Burgess Battery and Newell retiring in 1995.  She was a former member of the Laurel Street Church of God and the Moose Lodge in Freeport.

She loved to collect broaches, camp, fish, doing plastic canvas crafts with yarn and doing a witches cackle.

She is survived by her son, Michael McMillian of Roanoake, VA and her daughters Julia (Wayne) Meinert of Rock City; Cathy Greenfield of Freeport; Belinda Adams of Freeport; Alma Sadewater of Davis and Evelyn (Michael) Zimmerman of Freeport. Her sister Rosie Adams of Carrolton, Kentucky and her very special niece, Janet Knight of Columbus, IN.  Her legacy also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a couple of great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Henry Jr., daughters Melody Heilemeier, Tammie Heilemeier, and Rebecca Burdick. Her sisters, Clara Burton, Mary Reich, Nora Abercrombie and Anna Carlin. There were also 3 brothers Johnny and Charlie McMillian, Arles North and 1 granddaughter.

Services will be on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Walker Mortuary with a visitation at 10am and a service following at 11am with Pastor Hank Fairman officiating.  Burial will be at Freeport City cemetery next to her husband, son and daughter
