Alvin L. Shain, 87, of Freeport, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born December 2, 1925 in Monroe, Wisconsin he was the son of Archie and Kathryn (Walters) Shain. He married Delores Walthers October 26, 1979.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Alvin retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company.
Surviving are his wife, Delores of Freeport; one son, Alvin (Wendy) Shain Jr. of Freeport; his daughters, Norma Shain and Jesse Thomas of Freeport, Tammy Figi of Albany, Wisconsin, Kathy (Keith) Wheat and Doris (Danny Aeling of Freeport, Cindy (Allen) Ditsworth, Terry, and Mary; his sisters, Joyce and Norma Jean of Lanark, Edi of Freeport and Doris; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Daryl.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013 at Walker Mortuary.
Visitation will be Monday 1 p.m. until time of service at Walker Mortuary.
Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum.
A memorial has been established in his name.
