Ardeth E. Marcum , age 87 of Freeport, IL, passed away at the Stephenson Nursing Center on Friday, February 9, 2018. She was born November 8, 1930; the daughter of the late Merrell and Florence (Kincannon) Knodle. She married Melvin Marcum on April 18, 1948.

Ardeth retired from Honeywell, enjoyed word searches and loved to cook. She was Club Treasurer of the Pearl City Sno-Pearls Snowmobile Club.

She is survived by her husband, Melvin;  her son, David (Heather) Marcum of Cedarville;  her sisters, Iris Reed of Orangeville and Donna Weaver of Freeport; her brothers-in-law, Don (Shirley) Marcum of Freeport and Chester (Catherine) Marcum of Freeport;  her three grandchildren, Brad Marcum, Alisha Simler and Terry Cooper; and her three great grandchildren. Ardeth was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Roger Marcum; her daughter, Linda Cooper; her sister, Virginia Knodle; and her brothers, Orville "Bud" Knodle, Jim "Skip" Knodle and Richard Knodle.
