Ardeth J. Miller, age 81, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Ascension Living St. Joseph Village. She was born on May 24, 1941, in Freeport,Illinois, daughter of Delmar F. and Mary Magdeline (Miley) Stebbins. Ardeth graduated from Freeport High School in 1959. She married Gene M. Miller on August 30, 1969.
She began her career at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in 1968 as a secretary and after 30 years retired in 1998 as the Purchasing Manager. She was a longtime member of Park Hills Evangelical Free Church and had the opportunity to travel to Honduras on one of their mission trips. She served 20 years as a volunteer at FHN with R.S.V.P. (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). She was a devoted sister to her brother Daryl. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband to many interesting and entertaining places, including Alaska and Hawaii. She enjoyed her flower gardens, watching the birds and deer in her backyard, swinging on the front porch swing with her husband, cooking family holiday meals, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ardeth is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gene, their blended family; Brad Aukes, Dawn (Rocky) Zuberbuhler, Cindy (David Topliss) Miller and Glenn (Lynn) Miller; grandchildren Danielle (Josh) Zuberbuhler-Olszewski, Chloe Zuberbuhler, Erik Zuberbuhler, Jim (Alison) Deutsch, Lee Deutsch, David Frank, Kara Miller, and Lauren Miller; great-grandchildren Lou Deutsch, Lily Deutsch, and Lily Miller; brother Daryl Stebbins; and lifelong friend Phyllis Hansen. Predeceased by her parents and brother Marlin Stebbins.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation, funeral and luncheon.
Visitation will be held from 10 am – 11:30 am with the funeral to follow, Monday, March 20, 2023 at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church, Freeport, IL. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery & Mausoleum in Freeport, Illinois. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Her family extends their appreciation to Oakley Courts Assisted Living, Ascension Living St. Joseph's Village, Leonard C. Ferguson Cancer Center, staff at FHN's Memorial Hospital, Supportive Care and Hospice for their excellent care and support given to Ardeth and her family.
