Arlene Augusta Christians Hoffman Klooster, 88, of Freeport, passed away Saturday, January 28th, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor in Mt. Morris where she resided the past few years.
Born the daughter of George and Evalena (Kilker) Christians in Avon, South Dakota on December 2, 1923.
Arlene married Nevan O. Hoffman in Freeport on June 27, 1948. He passed away December 11, 1971. Arlene married Fredrick Klooster on March 2, 1974 he passed away on May 24, 1975.
Survivors include 1 daughter, Wanda Socia of Freeport; 3 granddaughters, Misty Whitehead of Forreston, Jennifer Plum of Freeport, and Rhonda (Donnie) Bottcher of Forreston; 9 great-grandchildren, Felix, Cody, Josilyn, Antonio, Alejandro, Austin, Colton, Macie, and Aidyn.
Arlene most enjoyed spending time with her Family, playing Old Maid, Dominoes and Bingo. Arlene was employed through Burgess Battery for a number of years until her disability with Retinitis Pigmintosa forced her to retire in 1968. Arlene's disability did not keep her from accomplishing things she set her mind to.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; great-granddaughter; son-in-law and companion of 9 years.
Arlene will be greatly missed by all.
