Arlene A. Toelke, 96, of Freeport passed away Monday, February 16, 2015 at Presence St. Joseph Home in Freeport. Born August 19, 1918 she was the daughter of Walter E. and Luella C. (Benning) Niedermeier. On November 25, 1937 she and Raymond H. Toelke were united in marriage in Davis, Raymond preceded her in death in 1996. Arlene was a member of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna and the Willing Workers of St. Paul, she was a long time member of the former Dakota Home Extension Unit. Arlene was a wonderful seamstress, doing countless wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses. Surviving are her grandchildren Dennis (Angie) Schoonhoven of Pecatonica, Terry (Kathy) Schoonhoven of Rock City, Steve (Becky) Toelke of Waterford, MI, Kathy (Jeff) Sulik of Macomb, MI; eight great grandchildren Travis, Tyler, Tanner and Sierra Schoonhoven, Brady, Brennen Toelke, Owen and Alissa Sulik; son-in-law Doug Schoonhoven of Dakota, daughter-in-law Vonnie Toelke of Dakota. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, daughter Carol Schoonhoven, son Allen Toelke, infant granddaughter Allise Toelke and sister Doris Hillman. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February, 18, 2015 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna with Reverend Scott Naevestad and Reverend Dick Thompson officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name.
