Freeport – Audrey E. Cox, 94 of Freeport passed away at Manor Court Freeport. She was born on August 11, 1926 in Galena, IL to Robert and Audrey (Roberts) Stowe.  She married Darvin T. Cox on April 10, 1945 in Cedarville, IL.  He died on July 8, 2016. She worked for many businesses in the area including Burgess Battery, Newell Companies, Canteen Corporation, and she was a secretary/bookkeeper at Kampen Fertilizer. She was a member of the Forreston Reformed Church for many years. She was an avid Cubs, Bulls and Bear fan.  She also enjoyed square dancing with her husband, gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Kenneth) Hess of Stockton, Vicki (Michael) Jones of Freeport and 1 sister, Sheila (Robert) Zink of Stockton. Her Grandchildren Michael Hollister of Las Vegas, NV, Steve Herburger of Kenosha, WI, Amy (Tom) Rheingans of Portland, OR, Timothy Hess of Canyon City, CO, Scott Hess of Stockton, Daniel (Melissa) Jones of Winslow, Kelly (Tim) Bishop of Frederick, CO and Christopher Jones of Madison, WI. She also had 15 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild and another one on the way in December.

She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, 1 sister, Vera (Arthur) Rangel, 1 brother Robert (Karen) Stowe and 2 grandsons, Jeffrey Herburger and Alexander Hess.
