Obituary

Barbara A Fiene, 64 of Dakota passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 7, 2010 at her home of an apparent heart attack. Born October 18, 1946 in Rockford she was the daughter of Theodore and Doris (Lemke) Neumann. She was a graduate of Rockford West High School in 1964. On February 14, 1965 she and Larry Fiene were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockford. Barb started her career life as a beautician and then worked in the Dakota School District. Later she worked many years for The Monroe Clinic and also Malcolm Eaton Enterprises before her present position of activities director for Provena St. Joseph Adult Day Center in Freeport. She was a charter member of the Tri-District Ambulance crew and had been taking tickets at the Dakota High School football games for 30 years. Barb enjoyed sewing and crafting, including creating several memory quilts and blankets for her grandchildren as well as beautifying many brides by tailoring their gowns to fit perfectly. She was a charter member of the Rock City Indian Grove Country Church. Surviving are her husband Larry of Dakota; mother Doris Franklin of Rockford; two daughters Teresa (John) Wenger of Davis, Andrea (Greg) Kittle of Rockford; son Eric (Carla) Fiene of Rock City; 9 grandchildren Matthew, Megann, Mackenzie and Andrew Wenger, Ethan and Cora Fiene, Zachary, Bryn and Haley Kittle; two sisters Sandie (Steve) Elrick of Roscoe, Vickie (Charles) Allton of Rockford. Preceding her in death were her father Theodore and step father Edwin Franklin.
