Obituary

Barbara A. Carlisle, 70, devoted mother, beloved wife, and cherished friend, went home to live with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Born March 12, 1944 in Freeport she was the daughter of Virgil J. and Elaine (Gaulrapp) Fischer. After her first marriage ended, Barbara found the love of her life in Harry Carlisle and they raised their three sons. Barbara most recently was a Family Care Specialist for Walker Mortuary where she served others with care and compassion. One of her great joys was to have been a member of the Walker Mortuary family. She was a proud member of the Aquin High School Distinguished Class of 1961 and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. Barbara was an avid and eclectic reader. She also enjoyed gardening, embroidery, gifting many of her friends with hand embroidered kitchen towels as a token of her love. She is survived by her husband, Harry; her sons, Anthony DiModica of New York, New York, Joseph DiModica and Jason (Kara) Carlisle both of Freeport; her grandchildren, Joseph Mitchell of New Fairfield, Connecticut. Brady, Meghan, and Jillian Carlisle all of Freeport; and many friends who will miss her warmth, compassion, thoughtfulness and laughter. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents on both sides of her family. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Grace Episcopal Church.
