A Life Remembered

Barbara F, Love, age 89, of Freeport, IL, passed away on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 7:15am in her home in Freeport, IL.

She was born September 23, 1936, in Hinsdale, IL to Frank and Barbara (Slomski) Svec.

She married Patrick B. Love on September 18, 1954. Barbara was proud of her Polish and Czechoslovakian roots. Barbara worked at the Pearl City Café making delicious pies and waitressing for her daughter Kathleen and Son-In-Law Douglas. She also worked at Plant 4 White Room, Microswitch and for District 145 as a lunchroom supervisor at Blackhawk School and then at Freeport High School as a kitchen aide. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Freeport.

She enjoyed working on her computer activities, crafting, and crocheting, making many pieces of beautiful, handcrafted family heirlooms. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed having lunch with her beloved husband at Krape Park in Freeport, Il.

She is survived by sons, Steven J., (Wendy) of Maine, TimothyB. of Freeport IL., daughters, Kathleen (Douglas) Wilken of Freeport IL., Joanne (Mike) Jones of Dixon IL., and Christine (William) Marsh of Belleville, IL; many grandchildren; a considerable number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and dear cousin Gerri Lipensky.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Patrick B. Love, and two sons Thomas Love and Patrick Love.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31st at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Freeport with a visitation beginning at 9:00 and a mass to begin at 10:30am. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Freeport.
