Barbara J. Smith, 52, of Porter, Texas, formerly of Freeport, died Sunday, October 9, 2011, at her home in Texas after a long illness.
Born November 30, 1958 in Freeport she was the daughter of Harry and Shirlee (Kersch) Williams.
Surviving are her mother, Shirlee Williams of East Dubuque, Illinois; 1 son, Tomas Machado of Clearwater, FL; 1 sister, Kim A. (Gene) Baker of Roscoe; 1 brother, James A. (Charlene) Williams of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; her stepchildren, Cory (Sara) Smith of Brentwood, CA and Jennifer Smith of Baypoint, CA; her nieces, Stephanie (Lucas) DeSpain of Streater, Chelsey Baker of Roscoe, and Mikenna DeSpain of Streater; numerous uncles; aunts; and cousins; and her special friend, Herb Smith of Porter, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Freeport.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
