Barbara Lee Zeeff , age 89 of Freeport, IL, formerly of Grandville, MI, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born on February 1, 1932 in Grand Rapids, MI; the daughter of the late Ernest H. and Janet D. (Taylor) Boersema. She was a 1950 graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School and went on to nursing school. Barbara married Donald E. Zeeff on October 14, 1954 in Grand Rapids at the Lee St. Christian Reform Church. Donald passed away on May 21, 1997.

She worked in various places during her nursing career. After moving to Freeport, she attended Bethany United Church of Christ. Barbara enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, and traveling.

She is survived by son, Philip (Laurie) Zeeff of Van Wert, OH; her daughter, Jill (Ron) Swanstrom of Freeport; grandchildren, Andrea (Joe Baker) McAlpine, Molly (Rai-Lin) Silveria, Alexa (Dale) Terry, and Taylor  Zeeff; great grandchildren, Kenidee McAlpine, Peyton McAlpine, and Theo Terry; great great granddaughter, Abeline McAlpine; sister, Donna Toppen of Grand Rapids, MI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; and daughter, Jana McAlpine.

Interment will take place at the Grandville Cemetery in Grandville, MI. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Condolences may be shared with her family at www.walkermortuary.com.
