Obituary

Beatrice Ann Carrera, age 91, of Chicago, IL, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. She was born May 3, 1933; the daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Chapman) Ackert. She was married to the late Armando Carrera for 51 years.

At the age of 16 under the teaching of Lance Latham at the North Side Gospel Center, Beatrice accepted Jesus Christ as her savior. Ever since then she has desired to be in Heaven. She was a member of Lakeview Bible Truth Assembly, later called Northwest Bible Chapel, for 60 years. Bea was active as an Awana leader, Sunday School teacher and in pastoral work. She also served at Lake Geneva Youth Camp as counselor, program team member, and cook. Since 2000, Beatrice was a member of Faith Community Church of Davis, IL, where she hosted a Thursday night women's Bible study which she loved.

Bea's career was at the US Census Bureau, as a supervisor for several monthly national surveys and the Decennial Census of Population and Housing, where she received the Presidential Award for Distinguished Service in 1994. She later worked at Hydro, Inc and Faith Community Church.

Bea cherished her time at Lake Summerset and was loved for her Biblical knowledge, wisdom, and unwavering faith. She enjoyed traveling with Armando. Anyone who spent time with her knew how Bea loved to read the newspaper while sipping several cups of coffee or talking about her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Stephen J. (Michelle) Carrera, daughters, Jacqueline Barge, Judith (Ramon) Guerrero all of Chicago, IL, Janice (Steven) Modrzejewski of Elgin, IL, and son Clarence (Johnnetta) Cox of Chicago, IL; brother, David (Sue) Ackert of Cherry Valley, IL; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Armando; and sisters, Florence (Robert) Strait and Bernadine (James) Christiansen.
