Lanark – Beatrice J. Griffin, 77 of Lanark passed away with her family at her side after a brief illness.  Beatrice was born on March 18, 1946 to Clarence and Della Rose (Kerchner) Chapman in Hanover, Illinois.  She married James E. Griffin Sr. on January 8, 1966 and together they raised a family.  He died on August 22, 2006.

She loved spending time with her family, doing jig saw puzzles, playing cards and board games with her grandchildren and she was very competitive.

She is survived by her sister, Barb (Jim) Foley of Freeport; one daughter, Marcett (Chris) Dickman of Lanark and one son, Keith (Lisa) Griffin of Woodbine.  Her grandchildren include Brendan, Keegan, Chelsea, Mikel, Keenan, Drew, Torianna, Trey, Austin and Trevor. Her great grandchildren are Max, Ada, Johnny, Brandon and Briana. She also has a sister-in-law, Dixie Husemann.

She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, Jim Sr.; her son, Jim Jr.; her brother, Clarence Chapman; her sister Betty; brother-in-law, Bill as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, Dec 27, 2023 beginning at 10:30am followed by a service at 11:30am at Walker Mortuary.  Her final resting place will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens next to her husband, Jim Sr.  Condolences can be left for the family at www.walkermortuary.com.
