Obituary

Freeport-Berniece A. Strahm, 93, of Freeport, died Friday, February 4, 2005, at the Stephenson Nursing Center.
Born September 3, 1911 in Moline she was the daughter of Jacob P. and Amelia (Gregerson) Grundall. Berniece and Edward "Pete" Strahm were married November 21, 1932 and he died May 22, 1977.
Mrs. Strahm worked at Sanitary Laundry, Western Newell, Hugh's Grocery and Diamond's Grocery.
She was a member of Zion Church for over 50 years, where she was a member of the Naomi Club, taught Sunday school, a past officer of the church, ladies aid, coordinated meals-on-wheels, and was a past secretary of bible school.
She is survived by 4 nephews, Gerald (Shirley) Cassidy, Harold (Lorraine) Bair, both of Freeport, Jim (Gloria) Strahm of Las Cruces, NM and Gary Grundall of Camanche, IA; 2 nieces, Eldora (Mike) Christ of Freeport and Pam Heidenreich of Sabula, IA; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Her parents, husband; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and 1 niece preceded her in death.
She had many special friends who helped her over the years, especially Marg Ortgiesen, Herb and Anita Currier, and James and Linda Stein. Over the years, Gerald and Shirley Cassidy and family were her caretakers.
Funeral service and burial will Thursday 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with Reverend Robert Schroeder of Zion Church officiating.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the Zion Church.
