Bessie M. Holden, 73, of Freeport, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born November 24, 1934 in Freeport she was the daughter of Ben and Mabel (Merchant) Tempel. She married Harold R. Canfield May 31, 1952 and he died May 5, 1961. She married Billie G. Holden March 25, 1962 and he died August 21, 1990.
Bessie worked at Newell companies for 7 years, Burgess Battery for 8 years, and then 20 years at Micro Switch retiring in 1992. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving is her son, Daniel (Teresa) Holden of Freeport; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; 2 sons; 1 daughter.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend John Hollis officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4-6 P.M. at the Mortuary
Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established.
