Freeport-Bethel M. Kerchner, 90, of Freeport, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Freeport Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born December 9, 1916 in Stephenson County. Bethel married Harry M. Kerchner March 31, 1936 and he died in 1977.
Bethel's memberships included the Moose and the Eagles Lodge. An avid bowler she enjoyed baking and cooking having baked many pies for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose. She enjoyed her many travels to Arizona and Branson.
Surviving are two daughters, Dixie (Glen) Gocha of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Karen (Alan) Otte of Freeport; 3 sons, Larry (Joanne) Kerchner, Dennis (Cheri) Kerchner, and Gary (Sylvia) Kerchner all of Freeport; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and her daughter, Sally Strohacker.
Funeral service will be Monday 3 p.m .at Walker Mortuary with Reverend Alan McLearn-Montz officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Monday 1 p.m. until time of service at the Mortuary.
