Betty A. Brubaker, age 89 of German Valley, IL, left this world peacefully on November 7, 2025 at Parkview Home in Freeport. She was born February 15, 1936 in Milledgeville, IL; the daughter of the late Kenneth and Florence (Gerdes) Webster. She was a 1953 graduate of Dakota High School. Betty married Richard Brubaker at the parsonage of Trinity Church on Broadway Street in Freeport, IL on March 23, 1957.
She was a waitress in her younger years at Fort Hopkins and Mid City Grill. Betty also was a tutor for Forreston School district in math of young students. She then worked at Sanitary Laundry with her sister, Wilma. Betty also worked at MicroSwitch from 1964 until retiring in 1998. She joined Trinity UMC in April of 1962. She was also a hospice volunteer. Betty was an active and generous member of Harmony church, helping with Charge Conference, Rummage Sale, or wherever there was a need. She was also a member of Seekers Sunday School Class. She was always lending a helping hand. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida and they took yearly trips up north to Hayward, WI. Betty loved baking, especially Christmas cookies. Most of all she loved her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of German Valley; daughter, Pam (John) Wool; son, Jeff (Mitchelle) Brubaker; grandchildren, Adam, Matthew (Karlee), Sam, Jeremy (Amanda), and Johnathon; great grandchild, Elliott Jeffery Harris; brothers, Carl Webster and Jim (Susan) Webster; and sisters-in-law, Judy (wife of Charles Webster and Rita (wife of Clyde Webster).
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Webster, Edwin (Cynthia) Webster, Charles Webster, Clyde Webster and Harold Webster; sisters, Mabel (Jim) Gift, Phyllis (Verlyn) Vietmeyer, Norma Jean Webster, and Wilma (Don) Nath; and sister-in-law, Shirley Webster (wife of Carl).
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Harmony UMC in Freeport at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport.
