Betty J. Drum, age 89 of Freeport, IL passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. She was born October 2, 1927 in Crystal City, MO; the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sarah (Day) Govero. Betty married Milford Drum on September 18, 1945 in Sioux Falls, SD; he passed on September 19, 1996.
She worked for Micro Switch for 25 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Freeport where she was also a member of the Concordia Society. Her memberships also include the Eagles Club, Golden K' Kiwanis, and she was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed gardening, drawing, painting and decorating. She also loved to write stories.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Quiggle of Freeport; grandchildren, Dr. Doyle R. (Freya) Quiggle Jr of Germany and Brittanny Elizabeth (Todd) Waye of Wisconsin; and great grandchildren, Susan Elizabeth Waye and Morgan Rebecca Waye. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milford; grandson, Chauncy Justin Quiggle; and 11 siblings.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 30th at 10:30 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Freeport with visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established in her name.
