Betty J. Folk, 84, of Rock City died peacefully Sunday December 28, 2008 at her home.
Born March 5, 1924 on her family farm in rural Rock City she was the daughter of Clyde and Selma (Kloepping) Fluegel. She and William L. Folk were married July 12, 1947 at Freeport and he preceded her in death September 19, 1977. She was a graduate of Dakota High School and Northern Illinois University later teaching elementary school in Dakota District 201 for 35 years retiring in 1989.
Her memberships include Indian Grove Country Church, Daughters of American Revolution, the Rock Run Country Historical Society and the Stephenson County Home Extension.
Betty enjoyed her family, having family dinners and following her grandchildren through their years of activities. She enjoyed nature including feeding the birds in the backyard.
She is survived by her five sons, Ron (Vicky) Folk of Durand, Randy Folk of Bradenton, FL., Steve (Marlyse) Folk of Rock City, Greg (Nancy) Folk of Davis, Gary (Natalie) Folk, of Dakota; 16 grandchildren Brian (Jill) Folk, Nick (Amy) Folk, Chris (Jamie) Folk, Terri Cloyd, Jason Folk, Jennifer Folk, Brianna Folk, Seth Folk, Dana (Cory) Cahoon, Tanner Folk, Wes (Kelly) Folk, Heath (Camile) Folk, Beth Folk, Brooke Folk, Sarah (Jake) Linder, Andrew Folk. 12 great grandchildren Aaron, Evan, Haley, Nathan, Kaylee, Taylor, Justin, Alicia, Carissa, Noah, Madison, Blake; special friend of 25 plus years Harold White of Rock City; two brothers Donald Fluegel of Dakota, C.Lance Fluegel of AZ; sister-in-law Carol Fluegel of Dakota, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Frederick and sister-in-law Evelyn.
Visitation will be Tuesday 4pm - 7 pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 10:30 am at the Indian Grove Country Church Rock City with the Reverend Peter D. McClanathan officiating
Burial will be in the Dakota Cemetery in Dakota.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
