Betty J (Rummel) Leverton, 99, of McConnell went to be with the Lord Monday, October 17, 2022, at Lena Living Center, Lena, IL.

She was born July 11, 1923 in Ogle County, she was the daughter of Curtis and Anna (Schleich) Rummel.

On August 14, 1948, Betty married Franklin Leverton at English Reformed Church Parsonage in Freeport.  He passed away September 14, 2009.

She was educated at Sunnyside Country School.

Betty was a member of Grace Free Methodist Church, McConnell.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed all kinds of gardening and made the best pies.  Together Betty and Frank farmed for more than 60 years and owned and operated Leverton Sales & Service in McConnell, since 1957.  Betty also worked at the Lena Living Center for a short time.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judith (Craig) Campbell of Winslow and Marcia (Gary) Buss of Lena; three sons, Scott (Sue) Leverton, Mark (Nikki) Leverton, and Bradley (Peggy) Leverton, all of McConnell; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers George and John Rummel.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 24, 2022 at Walker Mortuary.  Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of funeral.  Burial will be at Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
