Betty May (Thruman) Williams, age 99 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. She was born January 24, 1927 in Freeport; the daughter of the late George and Edith (Gerloff) Thruman. She was raised by her step-father, Arthur “Elmo” Myers.
Betty worked in the FHN surgical sterilization department for more than 20 years until retirement. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Freeport. She loved going to the casino, playing BINGO, and walking. Betty also loved Elvis and Neil Diamond. She fiercely protected her children and lived for them.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Williams; grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) Williams, Megan Williams, and Heather Graff; great grandchildren, Maisie, Millie, Brayden, Olivia, Gabriella, Mason, and Marco; brothers, James Myers, Richard (Judith) Myers, and Lewis (Marilyn) Myers; and cousin, James Thruman. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Todd Williams; brothers, Gene, John “Jack”, and Robert; sister, Judith Ann Myers; and aunt, Annie Foy.
A private burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport. Condolences may be shared at www.walkermortuary.com.
