Freeport – Betty J. Wing, 92 of Freeport passed away at FHN Memorial Hospital on June 23, 2023 following a brief illness.  She was born on January 6, 1931 to the late Francis and Lucille (Weegens) Herbig.  She married Robert D. Wing on December 1, 1952 and together they raised a family.  They were married for 69 years.

She worked for Micro Switch Honeywell for 18 years and Swiss Colony for 25 years prior to retiring at age 85. She enjoyed traveling with Bob and going to casinos along the way.  She loved to bowl and was on bowling leagues for 39 years.

She is survived by her children Tracy (Heidi) Wing of Monticello, WI; Roger (Tammy) Wilson of Freeport; LuAnn Webber of Freeport and Diane Thruman of FL.  Her sister, Francine Lambert of AR; brother Gerald (Susan) Herbig of Freeport and her dear friend, Jim Gorham of Freeport.  Her legacy includes many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Jeffery; her sister Dona Higgins; brother-in-law, Henry Wing and her dear friend, Bonnie Gorham.

Services will be on Friday, July 14th with a visitation beginning at 10am and the service to follow at 11am all at Walker Mortuary.
