Bobbie Strohacker, beloved wife and mother, entered into the eternal rest of Jesus Christ on Sunday, September 4th, 2022.

She was born to Winnie and Eva (McKraney) Aultman on October 7, 1937, on her family farm outside of Bassfield, Mississippi.  She was blessed with wonderful parents and 10 siblings whom she dearly loved.  Growing up, she was taught the value of hard work, the importance of family and the love of Jesus Christ.

After her high school graduation in 1956, she moved to Austin, Texas and then followed two of her brothers to the Freeport area where she met the love of her life, Larry Strohacker, in March of 1964.  She enjoyed recounting the story of their first meeting.  She had left work at State Street Pizza during a blizzard and Larry "accidentally" bumped into her with his car!  There were no injuries and he eventually convinced her to go on a date with him for work to Beloit, Wisconsin where she was then left in the car for 2 hours!  Despite the unusual first meetings, they realized their love for each other and were joined in the covenant of marriage on July 31 of that same year.  They enjoyed almost 57 years of marriage packed with softball games, fishing, hunting, card clubs, boating, school activities with their children such as scout leader, building a home together (literally), travel, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other wonderful experiences with family friends.  Bobbie was an excellent wife, mother, homemaker and hostess.  She enjoyed working with her hands with gardening of both flowers and vegetables and sewing.  She was well known for sharing the bounty of her harvests and numerous handmade quilts given to loved ones for special occasions. In their later years, she and Larry enjoyed frequent trips to Mississippi to visit her family, as well as trips to Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Alaska and nearly every other US State.

Larry and Bobbie raised 4 kids together, Toby and Randy from Larry's previous marriage, and Stephen and Stacy, their own.  They lived in the German Valley-Adeline area for a short time and settled on the Herman and Elsie Borchers (Larry's Grandparents) farm outside of Baileyville where they built their own home.  They loved watching the farming community around them as the crops were planted and harvested and spent many hours driving around to see the changing seasons.

Bobbie was a devoted wife to Larry and showed her steadfast love as she cared for him during his last years.  When Larry went to be with Jesus in June of 2021, she took an extended trip to Mississippi to see her family where she suffered a stroke in November.  She arrived back in Illinois in February and lived out her last days in the comfort of her own home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry and one son, Randy as well as her siblings, James Edwin, William Edward, Nollie Catherine Butler, Billie Joe, Lawrence Homer, Evelyn Joyce, and twins Boyd and Lloyd; her brother in laws, Bruce Strohacker and Jerome (Romie) Strohacker and sister-in-law Patricia.

She is survived by her children, Toby Strohacker of California, Stephen (Garcia, and daughter, Jennifer, Pifer) and Stacy (Tim) Cassell of Illinois. Grandchildren include Rachel (Dale) Mullins, Briana Strohacker, Lindsay (Joseph) Edwards, Garbriella (Hunter) Deal of California: Mikayla Palmer, Allison Palmer, Skylar (Derrick) Quick, Seth Palmer, Mycah Cassell, Alayna Palmer and Trinity Cassell reside in Illinois.  Great grand-children include Daylen and Dakota Mullins, Remy, Berlyn and baby Edwards (due in February 2023), Emora and Elyanna Sanders and Warner Quick.  Her surviving siblings include Dennis (Arlene Aultman), David (Liz) Aultman, sister-in-law Pamela Strohacker and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bobbie and Larry attended Baileyville Baptist Church where they were active members and enjoyed the company of their church family. Bobbie loved the Lord and enjoyed learning more of His love for her and sharing the Good News of His gift of salvation with anyone who would listen.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15 ^th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Walker Mortuary in Freeport. The funeral service will be Friday, September 16 ^th at 10:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum at Oakland Cemetery also in Freeport. A memorial fund has been established for the Baileyville Baptist Church.
