Burdette J. Klever, age 87 of Davis, IL, passed away, with his family at his side, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Javon Bae Hospital in Rockford, IL. He was born November 10, 1935 in Freeport, IL; the son of the late Robert and Bertha (Ubben) Klever. He was a 1954 graduate of Dakota High School. Burdette married the love of his life, Janice Rickert on April 22, 1961.
He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, stationed in Germany. His passion was farming and he took great pride in his farm. Burdette was a hardworking perfectionist. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and of the Midwest Dairymans Company. He also served as president of the Dakota High School Band Boosters and as vice president of the Athletic Boosters. He loved traveling across the country with his wife, Janice. Together they took several trips to Branson, MO every year and visited Alaska on a cruise. Burdette was a dedicated family-man who loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of Davis, IL; son, Terry (Janet) Klever of Davis; daughter, Tanya (Michael) Collins of Gurnee, IL; grandchildren, Stacy (Jeremy) DeMay of Prophetstown, IL and Shane Klever of Davis; great grandchildren, Kora & Kailynn DeMay and Norah & Ellie Klever; sister, Patsy Althafer of Davis; brother, Robert (Pam) Klever of Davis; sister-in-law, Dorothy Klever of Davis; brother-in-laws, Cliff Martin of Juda, WI; John (Sue) Rickert of Freeport and William (Sandra) Rickert of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, Kaiden DeMay; brother, Larry Klever; sister, Shirley Martin and brother-in-law, Donald Althafer.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church in Davis, IL. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at the Davis Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
