Obituary

Burnham "Bun" N. Martin, 84, of Freeport, died Monday, September 5, 2011, at Provena St. Joseph Nursing Center.
Born October 10, 1926 in Kewanee he was the son of Burnham M. and Velma (Sadler) Martin. He married Della Barnhart Holder, April 9, 1965, in Freeport.
He was an Army Air Force veteran.
Burnham farmed for many years, worked and retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company, and then he worked with Malcolm Eaton Enterprises.
Bun loved aviation and was an avid Bears and Cub fan.
He was a member of Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are his wife of Freeport; his daughters, Shelby Martin and Kathleen Shaw both of Virginia, and Carol (Michael) Chacamaty of California; his sons, John (Sue) Martin, and Gregg (Connie) Martin of Virginia, and Russ (Heather) Martin of Minnesota; his step-daughters, Holly (Norman) Hornung and Linda (Rich) Hofmaster of Freeport, and Valerie (Greg) Stocks of Apple River; his step-son, Stephen (Pam) Holder of Freeport;1 brother, Arthur Dennison "Denny" (Nancy) Martin of New York; his sister in-laws, Donna (Carl) Reuter of Freeport, Doris (Bob) Snapp of California, Karen Kulas of Mt. Morris, and Jean (Jerry) Donahue of Carterville; his brother in-laws, Kenny (Sue) Barnhart of Texas and Rick (Kathleen) Barnhart of South Carolina; his grandchildren, Adam (Jen) Holder, Sarah (Charles) Williams, Allison (Todd) Slama, Julie (Brian) Alderman, Lisa (Tony) McDonald, Connie (Joe) Witte, Rachel Meyers, Ed (Natalie Mitchell) Meyers, Katie Meyers, Geoff (Liz) Stocks, Bridgette Stocks, Thea and Johnnie Chacamaty, Chrissy Martin, Kari (Tyler) Thornton, John Martin Jr., Jessica (Travis) Sutton, Kathleen Martin, and an additional grandchild to arrive in February; 6 step-grandchildren, Jason and Adam Hornung, Carie, Rich Jr., and Amanda Hofmaster, and Stephanie (Wes) Cocagne; and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Donald Russell "Russ" Martin.
Cremation rites have been accorded
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September, 9, 2011, at Church of the Brethren.
A memorial has been established for Church of the Brethren.
