Carl L. Reuter passed away on August 17, 2018 surrounded by his family at home.  He was born January 7, 1938 in Warsaw, Illinois to Charley and Anna (Larsen) Reuter.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Western Illinois University.  He received his Master's of Education at the University of Iowa. He married Barbara Rapagnani on December 26, 1959. They divorced June 6, 1986. He married Donna Lizer on August 5, 2000 in Freeport, IL.

He was a Math Teacher in the Unity School District, Freeport School District and at Highland Community College for a total of 40 years.  He was also an active member of the Freeport Church of the Brethren, Golden Kiwanis Club of Freeport, NEA, IEA and the Jets Board.  He loved old cars, woodworking, biking and bowling.  He also enjoyed fun runs, cross country skiing, and riding motorcycles.

Carl is survived by his wife Donna of Freeport.  His children, Jeffrey (Vicky) Reuter, Jennifer (Tom) Karstedt, Mark (Marilee) Reuter, and Greg (Margot) Reuter.  His stepsons, Jeffrey (Diane) Lizer, Dennis Lizer, and Michael (Denise) Lizer.  Carl had 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Reuter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Charlotte, Cora, and Louella, brother Paul, and stillborn son Daniel.

Visitation will be at Walker Mortuary on Friday, August 24 ^th from 4-7PM.  A Celebration of Life service will be at Bethany United Church of Christ in Freeport on Saturday, August 25 ^th at 11AM with a brief visitation beginning at 10AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Carl's name to Church of the Brethren, 777 W.
