Freeport-Carol U. Smith, 60, of Freeport died Thursday March 9, 2006 at Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Born June 22, 1945 in Dixon she was the daughter of Clinton and Alberta (Speaker) Utter. She married H. Phillip Smith August 5, 1967 in Dixon.
Carol was a teacher working with Head Start and then the YMCA Children's Center in Freeport.
Surviving is her husband, H. Phillip of Freeport; one daughter, Sara (Kevin) Spahn of Champaign; two sons, Mark (Kathy) Smith of Rockford and Ryan (Jody) Smith of Orangeville; one sister, Betty Russell of Dixon; one brother, Donald (Mary Jo) Utter of Surprise, Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Rowan Spahn of Champaign, Daniel and Benjamin Smith of Rockford; Makenzie Smith of Orangeville.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Dixon with Reverend Laverne Davenport officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
