Carolyn Ann Smith, age 94 of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on September 24, 2024 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ. She was born August 6, 1930 in Rock Island, IL; the daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Leona E. (Schumate) Cutler, Sr. Carolyn received her Teacher's Certificate from Augustana College in Rock Island where she performed at Carnegie Hall while in the choir. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Rockford College. She married LeRoy D. Smith on July 1, 1954 at the First Reformed Church in Fulton, IL.

Carolyn taught Elementary School in Pearl City, IL. She was a member of Community Reformed Church of Freeport, IL where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She also performed as a guest soloist at multiple churches. After moving to Arizona, she became a member of Christ's Community Church of Glendale, AZ. She enjoyed singing, reading, sewing, knitting, ceramics and cooking for family & friends.

She is survived by her children, Lynn A. Smith, Christine D. (Rudy Bruun) Savage, Deborah J. (Lindsay) Earnest, and Paul S. Smith; grandchildren, Chelsea R. (Timothy) Johnson, Joshua R. Earnest, Cassandra C. (Jarrel) Collins, Aleana R. Savage, and Devin F. Grever. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Benjamin H. Cutler, Jr and Georgia L. (Jack) Youngs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; and her siblings.

There will be a visitation on Saturday, October 12, 2024 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a service officiated by Jessica Zabransky at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport, IL.  A celebration of life was held on September 27, 2024 at Christ's Community Church in Glendale, AZ with Tyler Thompson officiating.
