Chandler, AZ: Catherine O. Stees, 90, formerly of Freeport died Tuesday October, 16, 2007 at the Park Regency Nursing Home in Chandler, AZ. Born August 26, 1917 in Lancaster Township. She was the daughter of Earl and Carrie (Fawver) Barr. On June 26, 1937 she married Jennings Stees in Freeport. He preceded her in death in January of 1983. Catherine was a member of the Freeport Church of the Brethren, she was an avid crafter, loved to work word search games, and always keep busy doing needle work. Many of her family and friends have received precious gifts of her needle work.
Surviving is her son Emmerson (Carol) Stees of Chandler, AZ; two grandchildren, Carmen (Jeffrey) Kaiser of Flower Mound, TX and Kevin (Carolee) Stees of Chandler, AZ; three great grandchildren, Lynsie Kaiser and Jeremy Kaiser both of Flower Mound, TX and Tanner Stees of Chandler, AZ; four nieces, Cindy (Brad) Grant of Freeport, Linda (Danny) Tretter of Lake Carroll, Carol (John) Foutch of Freeport and Margie Rigney of Scioto Mills; one nephew James (Bridgett) Penwell of Pecatonica, and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at Walker Mortuary with the Reverend Lisa Fike of Freeport Church of the Brethren officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Walker Mortuary. A memorial has been established in her name.
