Obituary

Cathryn J. "Kay" Arola, 94, of Freeport, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Freeport Rehabilitation & Care Center in Freeport.
Born November 16, 1919 in McConnell, she was the daughter of John and Nellie (Kunkle) Fisher. She married Arvo Arola on December 14, 1944 and he preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Winslow High School and attended Evanston Collegiate Institute (Kendall College) for 3 1/2 years.
Kay was an assistant to Dr. Rideout for 17 1/2 years.
Her memberships included First United Methodist Church in Freeport, United Methodist Women, and World Wide Baraca Philathea Union, where she served as National Executive Director retiring in 2004.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Cathy Arola; and her grandson, Eric Arola both of Ames, Iowa; and her nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, David J. Arola; five sisters; and one brother.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Freeport at the corner of Galena and Lilly Creek Rd. Burial of her cremated remains will be in the Silent Hill Cemetery in McConnell at a later date.
