Obituary
Cathy Anne Staben, age 70 of Freeport, IL, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 17, 2018. She was born August 25, 1948; the daughter of the late Raymond and Phyllis (Popkes) Ifert. She was a 1966 graduate of Freeport High School. Cathy married Jon Staben on July 13, 1968.
She had worked for Newell and provided in-home daycare, taking care of children was her passion. Cathy and Jon enjoyed camping at KOA and socializing with the friends they made there, especially playing BINGO at their campsite on Friday nights. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed caring for her family and her miniature Dachshunds.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jon Staben of Freeport; son, Eric Staben of Cedarville; grandson, Daniel Staben of Cedarville; brother, David Ifert of Cedarville; sister, Julie (Greg) Munda of Freeport; and her "Bonus Mom" Shirley Ifert of Freeport. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22 nd at 11:00 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Freeport. There will be a visitation before the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Freeport at a later date. A memorial fund has been established for the Lincoln-Douglas Kiwanis Children's Program.Services
