Charles "Chuck" C. Lei, 72, of Freeport died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at FHN Memorial Hospital.
Born February, 21, 1941 in Masonville, IA, he was the son of John and Hazel (Gibbs) Lei.
Chuck was a 1959 graduate of Manchester High School in Iowa and the Cook County X-ray Technicians School.
On June 15, 1963 he and Ardath Rademaker were united in marriage at German Valley Silver Creek Reformed Church.
He worked for the IL Central Railroad, Monroe Clinic Hospital and owned "Handyman Services", he enjoyed fishing and his years with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He also enjoyed tinkering in his workshop and spending time with his grand kids attending their sports and other activities.
Chuck was a member of St. John United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife of Freeport, four children Mark (Natasha) Lei, Janet Lei, Daniel (Stephanie) Lei and Matthew (Jill) Lei all of Freeport; six grandchildren Kristin, Mary, Anna, Mackenzie, Mason, and Sydney all of Freeport; two uncles John and Lain Gibbs; sister-in-law Doris Lei and two nieces Debra and Cindy. Preceding him in death were his parents, infant son, two brothers Arthur and Richard.
Visitation will be Tuesday October 15 from 5 -8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary.
Funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Reverend Carol Ahrens officiating.
Burial will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
A memorial has been established in his name.
